We love helping Hopewell Parks open their season with this race and now in our 5th year we had to re-jig the route slightly to accommodate the tides, so we started with the beach section taking in the famous flowerpot formations before heading back onto the park roads and down into Demoiselle Beach, a a quiet sandy cove located at the southern end of the park. From there its back on the trail for the downhill run down to the finish. The beach was a little greasy yesterday so everyone came back happy and covered in mud ready for their finishers medal and Pumphouse beer.
Eric Arsenault took out an early commanding lead heading into the first beach section but Colin McQuade soon overtook him and never looked back as Eric finished in a strong 3rd place. Lawrence McLellan had a very solid race to take home the 2nd place slot. Brenda Guitard from Saint John lead from start to finish for the ladies, followed by Mackenzie Kearns in 2nd and Michaela Kearns in 3rd.
All in all a fun morning and many people stayed behind after the race to enjoy the park at a more leisurely pace.
