We are hosting a Ladies Triathlon Training day. If you are new to triathlon or perhaps only have 1 or 2 events under your belt this is the day for you. This is your opportunity to ask any questions you have in a special female only Q&A. This event is supported and organized by members of Fundy Extreme Triathlon Club.
We will have a series of fantastic Guest Speakers who will pass on their vast experience with regard to training, recovering from injuries, having to drop out of races due to illness and much more. Bios for our instructors are below.

Our day will include the following:
Registration from 8.00am – 8.30am.
1 hour coached swim session by Daryl Steeves between 9.00am – 10.00am.
Guest Speakers – Shelley Wood & Jen Gendron with more to come.
45 Min Yoga session with Jill Roach.
Lunch followed by a Round Table discussion plus a Q&A session in a female only environment.
Optional run.
We will be hosting a variety of other training sessions in the build up to the Hampton Ladies Triathlon including a 20k Time Trial event with guidance, tips and skills to improve your biking. Plus, on the week of the race we will rent the pool so that you can test your swim skills and familiarize yourself swimming in an outdoor pool.
Our Coaches – Coach Daryl Steeves has 8 years of Sports Science education with advanced degrees in Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology. Add to that 40 years of coaching athletes from recreational to Olympic level and you have a great coaching resource. Daryl is the Head Coach at Fundy Extreme Triathlon Club and has an extensive roster of athletes from Sprint Distance Triathlon all the way up to Ironman including a large complement of runners.
Event Organizer – Garth Millar is best known in the community as a Race Director of many events including the Hampton Ladies Triathlon, Hopewell Rocks Race, Challenge St Andrews and the Saint John Airport race. Garth is also a multiple Marathon finisher with a PR of 2hr 59min 53sec and has competed in 6 Ironman events.
Event Organizer – Helena Millar is a career Travel Agent / Tour Organizer currently working with The Travel Agent Next Door but is also an accomplished athlete in her own right with a PR Marathon time of 3hr 57min set in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Helena also competed in the inaugural Ironman Florida race in 1999 and is right now in secret training for a major Spring race.
Event Organizer – Ellen Steeves has been a swimmer since her early days growing up in Montreal. Later she swam on the Varsity Swim Team at Mount Allison University then on to swimming at the Masters level. Ellen loves the long distance work and has completed the Grand Lake Swim Marathon 4 times. She continued that passion for distance when she completed the inaugural Disney World Goofy Race and a Half in 2006, completing a half marathon on Saturday and a full marathon on Sunday. She also finished the Cranberry Island Ultramarathon in third place in 2007.
Guest Speaker – Jen Gendron is a Health & Wellness Coach and owner of Lifestyles Health & Wellness Center in Hampton. Jen has worked in the wellness field for over 15 years and holds a number of certifications. Jen got first involved in the Hampton Ladies Triathlon many years ago when she challenged herself to participate in the full triathlon and has gone on to compete in the Duathlon and the Relay Triathlon. Jen has run a triathlon training program for local women Hampton for the last 3 years and loves to watch women get involved in this wonderful event. Guest Speaker – Shelley Wood is a 3x Ironman and has completed several Half Ironman and Half Marathon events. She has also cycled across Canada three times as a participant in the National Kids Cancer Ride. After her first cross-Canada cycling adventure, she decided to sign up for a half ironman and has been hooked on the sport ever since. She is a big proponent of ‘racing happy’ – and tries to make the best of every race experience. In August Shelley will be competing at Ironman Mont Tremblant. Yoga Instructor – Jill Roach began practicing yoga over 10 years ago as a way of complementing athletic training. With initial goals of stretching and strengthening, Jill discovered that a regular yoga practice offers much more. Keen to deepen her experience, Jill became a Certified Yoga Fitness Leader in 2011 – – through Fitness New Brunswick – – with the intention of completing further studies abroad. In 2013, Jill graduated from the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program – – at Frog Lotus Yoga International in Andalusia, Spain – – with a certificate in Vinyasa Flow yoga. Of late, Jill’s passion has shifted to teaching Yin Yoga at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre. Welcoming all levels and styles, Jill has an endless passion for promoting yoga and wellness, on and off the mat. Namaste
