Triathlon Training Camp 19-26 March 2016 – Clermont – Florida

Consultants By The Sea are excited to announce our 3rd annual Triathlon Warm Weather Triathlon Training Camp, focusing on your early season skills to ensure that you have the knowledge, confidence and ability to achieve your goals in the upcoming Triathlon season, whether it be to complete a Sprint Tri or take part in Challenge St Andrews or even Ironman, this Camp will give you the tools to execute your season successfully in a friendly, relaxed, no-pressure supportive environment. Our location in Clermont, Florida is a mecca for Triathletes looking for some early season sunshine and training. This year our accommodation and Camp is based out of Lake Louisa State Park where we can bike and run directly from our Villa’s, meaning that as well as our scheduled training sessions we will be able to provide spontaneous training / coaching based on your needs. Our Camp is Co-ed for 2016

Run around Downtown Disney, Saratoga Springs Hotel – early AM.

Run & Ride in Lake Louisa State Park, directly from your Villa.

Swimming & Water Running in the National Training Center outdoor pool.

For those training for longer rides we will use Van Fleet State Trail which is a 45k traffic free, flat paved trail.

Nutrition, Stretching, Strength Training, Warming Up, Racing Tips and much more.

Join our experienced and enthusiastic team of 6 staff / coaches to kick start your 2016 season. The Camp will be escorted & coached by Garth & Helena Millar, Ellen & Daryl Steeves & Earle Burrows & Gina Spear-Burrows to ensure that your training needs are taken care of.

Our Accommodation – Lake Louisa State Park’s 20 cabins overlook beautiful Lake Dixie. Cabins accommodate up to six people with two bedrooms, two baths, full kitchen and dining/living room. Each cabin is equipped with dishes, pots and pans, silverware, linens, towels, picnic tables and rockers on the porch. All you need is food and personal items.

Camp includes
1) Seven nights’ accommodation in Lake Louisa State Park based on 4 people sharing a 2 Bedroom Villa. Each unit can sleep up to 6 and has 2 private bedrooms, two bath, and a fully equipped kitchen. Prices on request for 5 & 6 sharing.
2) All training and coaching sessions & Admission to the NTC Swimming Pool and Running Track in Clermont.
3) Transportation from the Villas to the training facilities. * all prices based on 20 paying passengers.                                                                                                                                                4) Access to all the coaches, trips to the Publix Supermarket for shopping, last night celebration dinner (Not included) and much, much more.                                                             5) Nutrition presentations, Stretching, Q&A’s, Warming Up & Cooling Down Techniques, Transitions Clinic, Open Water Swimming, Free time to relax.

How Do I Register?                                                                                                                  Get a group of friends or club members together and register for your own cabin. Prices will depend on the number of people per cabin. 3 or 4 people can be accommodated very comfortably in a cabin and in fact all 6 coaches stay in a cottage together. As a BONUS, register together before October 01 and all the people in your cabin receive a $50.00 discount as a thank you from us.

Register on your own and we will match you up with other athletes of your own gender and you can also take advantage of the $50.00 early booking discount if booked before 01 October.

Flights – please contact Helena Millar at to assist with flights so that we can ensure that as many people as possible are arriving together. We will offer airport transfers between 10.00am – 3.00pm on arrival day (19 March) and departure day (26 March) only. You will need to make your own transfer arrangements for arrivals and departures at all other times. Pre & Post Camp nights can also be booked through Helena.

Lake Louisa State Park – A short drive from Orlando, this park is noted for its beautiful lakes, rolling hills and scenic landscapes. Lake Louisa, the largest in a chain of 13 lakes, is designated an Outstanding Florida Water Way. We will also be able to practice open water swimming from the park.

We have received lots of questions regarding the Camp so down at the bottom of this page I have listed some answers to the questions asked. Please contact me if there is anything else you would like to know.

We have been vacationing, training and racing in Florida since before 1998 when Garth completed the Great Floridian Iron Distance Triathlon in Clermont, just 20 minutes north of Orlando. Since those days Clermont has become something of a mecca for Triathlon, Running and Cycling with the development of an Olympic National Training Center with a wonderful open water 50m pool and 400m track as well as the West Orange Trail offering miles of paved trails to ride and run on, as well as great shopping, restaurants, golf and of course the lovely warm climate of Florida in March.

Prior to the Camp we will ask you to send us some information about yourself, your current fitness levels, races completed and goals and ambitions in Triathlon over the next few years, this will allow us to tailor our training and coaching to meet your needs to maximise the training available to you in Florida.

1) As with our Hampton Ladies Tri this Camp will be a fun, no-pressure, testosterone fee week of training and learning but with the emphasis on fun.
2) Do not worry about your current ability level – the Camp will be a learning experience and will provide you with all the tools you will need to compete in your goal races.
3) It will add to the camaraderie of the Camp if everyone stays on-site at Lake Louisa State Park as we will be able to communicate with everyone easily in the event that we need to make last minute alterations to activities.
4) We will have the athletic and coaching ability on this Camp to work with anyone training for Sprint Triathlon, Olympic, 70.3 or longer.
5) Will be training at the following locations:
– National Training Center in Clermont – Swimming & Running
– Lake Louisa State Park – open water swimming, cycle skills (small park fee payable locally)
– West Orange Trail – Running & cycling on a trail that is marked every 1/2 mile and travels through several local communities & villages with opportunities to visit bike shops and for coffee stops.
– Downtown Disney – we will lead a run through Downtown Disney, Saratoga Springs and around several other Disney Hotels.
– Lake Minneola – running and cycling and home of the Great Floridian Triathlon
6) In addition to training in Swim / Bike / Run there will also be educational workshops throughout the week including:
– Nutrition & Hydration
– Warming Up
– Stretching
– Strength Training
– Transitiions
– Social Time to chat and relax
and of course you have all week to ask as many questions as you wish of the 6 of us coaching the Camp.
7) We will build free time into the weeks itinerary for shopping, relaxing and perhaps visiting Disney.
8) We will provide information and directions to all the best running & bike shops in Clermont & Orlando.
9) We will have vehicles available to assist with transfers from Orlando International Airport to Clermont and also to the training venues but please feel free to rent your own vehicles if you prefer a little more independence.
10) There is a Publix Grocery Store roughly 5k from our accommodation for all your catering needs.
11) Clermont has numerous restaurants, all the usual brands. When we are in Clermont we usually have lunch in Crispers across from the pool.
12) Closer to the Camp date we will produce a loose daily itinerary but basically there will be 2-3 training sessions per day as well as educational seminars.
13) Bike rental is available through local bike shops and we can certainly give you info about which shops to visit.
14) We just need a $100.00 deposit per person to secure your place on the Camp and the balance will be due 8 weeks prior to travel. This does not include flights.
